Eligibility

Open to those who meet income and asset guidelines (less than 125% of federal poverty level, or less than 200% if the client has certain expenses; Some grants may allow programs to serve people with higher incomes), have no conflicts of interest, and meet citizenship and immigration requirements; Also open to older adults ages 60 and older, people with HIV/AIDS, and veterans (including service members, reservists, spouses, and dependents) may have higher income/asset limits

Description

Legal service program that helps:

- Individuals and families obtain and maintain Medicaid and Medicare and obtain coverage for services needed.

- With medical assistance denials, terminations, spend down issues (Medicaid, Medicare).

- Older adults and people with disabilities get the help needed to remain in their own home or secure coverage for long-term care.

- Older adults and people with disabilities establish powers of attorney.

- With nursing home discharges.

- Family members obtain guardianship or other legal authority to care for loved ones.

- People with HIV/AIDS obtain care and services.
