Clothing Closet, located at 905 East 9th Street in Muscatine (563) 261-7456, has limited small furniture, household goods, child/baby and adult clothing (based on donations).

Support services for individuals in need, including showers, a warm place during the day, and transportation for homeless individuals to work.

Offers a variety of services for men, women, and children experiencing homelessness, gives guests a safe place to be during the day with heating and cooling. Services include: Computer Learning Center, Referrals to community resources, job search assistance, life skills training, assistance with rental applications, and emergency clothing vouchers.

Provides a daytime hospitality center for those in need. Anyone needing access to a shower, laundry facilities, a hot meal, or clothing can come into the Romero House to get assistance.

Jubilee Center | Shelter Care Ministries

A non-clinical, membership drop-in-center.

Advocates for consumers in the areas of mental health services, housing, financial issues, substance abuse, and medical issues. These services are offered through local support agencies.

Offers a pscyho-social environment with access to computers, TV, a pool table, newspapers, a telephone, and limited food services.

Daily Shelter and Cooling Center | Generation Diamond Corporation

Daily shelter with a capacity for 10-15 people. Meals provided daily. Showers also available.

GDC serves low income, homeless and/or recently incarcerated individuals. Services include: 

 -- Assists and Economic assistance to obtain State ID, birth certificate, and applying for social security. 

 -- Assistance with employment information.

 -- Bus tickets* -- Opportunity for community services. 

 -- Clothing.

-- Cold breakfast, lunch and water. 

 *Bus tickets availability will vary by day.

Homeless Drop In Services | Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach

Showers and laundry services for people experiencing homelessness available during regular business hours Mon-Fri only. Must meet with an outreach staff person before using the services for the first time.

Mailing address and on-site message service for those who are homeless. Mail pick-up times are Mon-Fri 11 am-1 pm and 5 pm-6:30 pm or by appointment. Messages are posted on the message board in the dining room.

Hot meals served twice daily.

Daytime Hospitality | Dingman House - Catholic Worker House

Offers daytime hospitality (no overnight guests). Visitors can shower during the first two hours the house is open. A phone, newspaper and other amenities are available during business hours. No transportation is provided, and alcohol, or persons under the influence of drugs, are not allowed in the house. Canned food, clothing, personal items and bedding are provided when available to those in need.

For persons in the community who experience homelessness, housing instability, mental illness, substance use, or extreme poverty.

Centralized Intake | Primary Health Care

Primary Health Care Centralized Intake is the centralized intake location for Polk County. Anyone experiencing homelessness can be referred to PHC for assistance. Each case manager will complete an intake with the household and may provide referrals to shelter, housing, public benefits or any other resource that will meet the household needs. Anyone who may be seeking emergency shelter for their family should come to PHC to complete an intake as all emergency family shelters placements are referred through PHC.

Also offers a shower to those who are homeless and in need.

Homeless Services | Cruisin’ Outta Poverty Services

Provides an umbrella of services to help individuals that are experiencing homelessness.

Includes:

- Job training/earn a stipend daily based on sale of donated items; Stipend paid directly to a need

- Advocacy

- Free clothing and household items

- Transportation when other options are not available

- Mailbox usage for the purposes of obtaining a birth certificate, social security card, or employment

- Help with filling out forms

- Literacy help (Learn to read individual/groups offered)

Street-Based Outreach | Youth Emergency Services Inc.

Street-based outreach services runaway youth and youth experiencing homelessness, near-homelessness, or street dependency.

Drop-in center services include food, basic first aid and hygiene supplies, advocacy, education and information, and referrals to appropriate community service providers. A nurse is onsite three days per week and offers testing for sexually transmitted diseases.

Safe Harbor Shelter | Salvation Army of Bloomington

Offers shelter to homeless adults. Clients are eligible for additional services such as case management services, showers, laundry and meals. The length of stay is eight weeks. The stay may be extended based on progress.

Day Center Services are offered to homeless individuals/families and include:

- Case management.

- Job development.

- Mental health counseling.

- Life skills.

- Agency referral.

- Laundry and shower facilities.

- Breakfast/lunch.

Day time drop-in center for adults who are homeless. All services at the facility are accessed through case management. Residential services may be available but must be accessed through case management.


Services include showers and bathrooms, storage for personal belongings, laundry facility, kitchen, employment and training, classrooms, art room, office space, and donation room. 


Also serves as a warming center during regular hours in the winter months.

The Junction | Home Sweet Home Ministries

A space where people experiencing homeless or loneliness may gather to be together in a safe environment. Coffee and cool drinks are available, as well as games, puzzles, and a children's room. Community case management is available, as well as appointments with the community health navigator. A classroom may be reserved for meetings or classes.
