Hospice Care at Home | VITAS Healthcare

Clinicians are available at all hours by phone to answer questions and dispatch someone to the bedside, if necessary. Medical equipment and medications are delivered to the home a well, and respite care provides up to 5 days of Medicare-certified inpatient care for a hospice patient so that family members can take a break from their caregiving duties to relax, unwind, recharge, travel, recover from an illness or attend other events.

Home furnishings warehouse of SCCO, for previously-owned furniture or appliances. Accepts used items in good working condition, microwave size or larger.

FOR CUSTOMERS:

Donated items are priced and tagged for sale to the general public. Income-based discounts may apply; see Program Fees for details.

Sold Items - A "Sold" tag is placed on items with full payment. Arrangements must be made to pick up purchased items as soon as possible or for items to be delivered. Hero's Attic cannot store a customer's furniture but may hold items for up to 2 business days in order for customers to measure or contemplate a purchase.

Delivery Fee - A minimum fee of $10.00 will be charged for deliveries in and 10 miles around Harlan City Limits, with an additional $1.00 per extra mile (within a 20-mile radius of Harlan).

MEDICAL EQUIPMENT:

Accepts donations of used medical equipment to loan out to clients for free, for those in need of a wheelchair, crutches, or a cane, etc., on a short term basis. Occasionally has scooters or hospital beds to loan.

FOR DONORS:

All donations are tax deductible (donation receipt provided). The values of the items are determined by the donor.

Drop Off Donations - Items may be dropped off during regular business hours; arrangements must be made if staff is needed to help with unloading. Donations may NOT be left outside the building when closed.

Donation Pick-Up Service - A minimum fee of $10.00 will be charged for pick-ups in and 10 miles around Harlan City Limits, with an additional $1.00 per extra mile (within a 20-mile radius of Harlan).

Quality - Donated items must be clean and in good working order. Higher quality items may be given a “Premier” tag, noting that discounts do not apply to the item. Donations are NOT accepted for items that belong in the dump.

Assistive Technology Equipment | Kid Assist of Jasper County

Offers to build wooden ramps for people in need who live in Jasper County, who own or rent a home. Also provides an equipment loan and donation program for items such as walkers, bath aids, toileting aids, adapted swings, adapted bikes, low tech switches and communication devices, bedside tables, and other types of products which a person with disabilities might need. This program also accepts donated wheelchairs and other equipment that are then reconditioned and loaned out to other clients. Also accepts and then loans out electric powered lift chairs.

*The mission is to enhance the quality of life of clients with disabilities in Jasper County by loaning leisure, recreational and other adapted equipment they might not otherwise be able to obtain in order to learn independent skills and increase their self sufficiency.
