Truancy Prevention Services | Rock Island County Regional Office of Education Prevention Services

Prevention services including a Truancy Division, with the objective of truancy prevention and intervention.  Enforces Illinois Compulsory Attendance Law and to assist schools and families by complementing the work of social service agencies.  Staff refers students to the appropriate agencies for assistance.

Marion Specialized Delinquency Beds | Four Oaks Family and Children’s Services

Provides a specialized residential treatment program for delinquent adolescents in response to serious anti-social behavior. Referred youth may be victims of abuse, neglect, exploitation, violence, emotionally disturbed, behavioral disorder, runaways, homeless, alleged delinquents who do not require a secure setting or any youth in similar crisis situations that may place them at risk.

Juvenile Court Services | Polk County Attorney's Office

Polk County Juvenile Court Services has jurisdiction to inquire into and to make certain statutory dispositions of cases of delinquent children. Serious cases are handled by formal court hearings and orders. Less serious cases are handled by counseling, informal adjustment or diversion to other public or private services. Children held in detention or in shelter care pending hearing and disposition are provided physical examination and professional nursing care, medical care and schooling suited to their ability. Mental examinations are provided when necessary for adequate evaluation of the child and to proper disposition of the case. If a child is adjudicated to be delinquent he/she can be placed on probation at home or in custody of other persons or private or public agency or can be committed to a state institution.

Academy Program | Lincoln's Challenge Academy

Academy program for high school dropouts, GED and credit recovery ages 15.5-18.  Classes start in January and July and run for seventeen months.  The first five months are spent in residency at the campus in Rantoul, IL.  In a structured quasi-military environment, youth receive GED instruction or credit recovery, self-discipline, life coping skills, computer skills, and career counseling, and they perform community service projects.  Post-graduation, cadets return to the community to continue education in a post secondary institution or vocational school, or obtain employment, with the guidance of a mentor from their community.  Youth may be eligible to receive a monetary allowance to assist in education or employment costs.

Coordinates an ongoing program to assist the region’s schools in requiring good school attendance. The Truant Officer works with schools and parents to intervene early and resolve school attendance problems. Partnerships formed among the Regional Office, the McHenry County State’s Attorney, and McHenry County Court Services have served the community well in resolution of school attendance issues.
