Provides a food pantry for local residents. Food panty is drive-up service, but residents receive a menu to make pantry selections. Also distributes dish soap, toilet paper, and hand soap supplies when donations are received. Dog and cat food is also regularly available.

Family Pet Care Center | The Barn on Baseline

Provides long-term and continuing care for pets of senior citizens who require a hospital stay, physical therapy, and/or assisted living. Also provided is long-term boarding for pets of active and deployed military personnel.

The long-term boarding allows the owners of boarded dogs to maintain ownership of their pets, giving them peace of mind that their pets will be well-cared for in a comfortable facility. The program is monthly donation-based, depending upon income and ability to pay. Can be named in a pet trust as the designated caregiver for a pet and can fulfill any wishes of the owner in terms of long-term care or any adoption option.

Provides in-home assistance for the care of pets. Services available include walking pets, cleaning litter boxes, providing rides to the vet or groomer, administer pet medication, and other tasks needed for pet's wellbeing.

Provides a no-kill facility. Primary goals are to reduce pet overpopulation and find forever  homes for the sick, injured, abused, neglected, and abandoned animals in Decatur and Macon County that come into the facility.

Animal Cruelty Intervention | Animal Rescue League of Iowa

Provides an Animal Welfare Intervention Coordinator to assist law enforcement agencies throughout the state. If there is an animal welfare concern outside of the city limits of Des Moines, citizens are encouraged to contact local law enforcement in their community to report first. Citizens can then email or call Animal Welfare Intervention Coordinator for more information and follow up.

Pet Food Pantry | Animal Rescue League of Iowa

Provides pet food for pet owners who are struggling to feed their pets due to financial difficulty. A household can use the pantry twice a month. Individuals may only pick up food for their household.

Dogs - food may be picked up for a maximum of 3 dogs (max of 6 bags). Bags are determined by weight of dog. Under 30 pounds, one gallon bag per dog or over 30 pounds, 2 gallon bags per dog.

Cats - Individuals with indoor cats may pick up food for a maximum of 3 cats (max 3 bags of food). One gallon of cat food per cat, one container of litter per household.

ARL does it best to supply pet food to various food pantries across the Metro. Visit website to view a map of all the food pantry locations that have pet food supplies via ARL.
